Tom Gabel of Against Me comes out as Transgender

Wow. The title pretty much explains what's happening here. But the details are many. Tom revealed to Rolling Stone that he's struggled with gender dysphoria for years, and has finally decided to begin the process of switching sexes through hormones and electrolysis treatments. Taking on the name Laura Jane Grace, Gabel will remain married to wife, Heather, which is...incredibly inspiring. This is the first time a major rock figure has openly come out as Transgender and she had this to say on the matter.

"I'm going to have embarrassing moments, and that won't be fun. But that's part of what talking to you (Rolling Stone) is about, is hoping people will understand, and hoping they'll be fairly kind."

Rolling stone will have more on her incredibly brave, public, and unique transition in their upcoming issue. On a side note, Tom has come through the studio, and in my 2 years here, I don't think I've met a kinder, cooler person. It's not an easy stance she's taken, and hopefully this comes as a huge wake up call to the music scene about LGBT equality. Good luck Laura.

Awesome! I hope there is more support than criticism. I'm happy to live in a world that's more and more accepting to how people naturally are.
