#sEATtle: Sick Food

I like to eat. A lot. Food is bae. Therefore, I figured I would post reviews of the places I go to give you a little insight and maybe some ideas on where you might want to nom with your friends or special someones. Plus, it gives me an excuse to pig out on Seattle's best eats and not feel bad about it, because work!

Before we start, though, I want to make one thing perfectly clear, I am NOT a professional food nerd, nor do I want to be. I don't know the intricacies of French cooking. Heck, I don't even know how to spell "intricacies." It also means that if you ask me what the best burger is, I'll probably say Lil Woody's before I suggest any kind of "gourmet" burger, unless that gourmet burger has an egg on it. Then gourmet burger wins (any burger with an egg on it wins really.) Also, my idea of a fancy pizza is anything with more than two toppings. Basically what I'm getting at is consider these restaurant reviews for the common man/woman.

Being sick is the WORST and I hate it.  Between the chills/sweats back and forth and the mind-bending headaches, coming down with the flu is what I imagine it felt like for 20th Century Fox big wigs when George Lucas was pitching Star Wars Episodes 1-3.

Anyway, when you are sick with the flu, the last thing you want to do is eat or drink, mostly out of fear of blowing chunks (again) but also because you have butterflies floating around in your tummy. But you gotta do it. Here are my go-to eats and bevs for getting through the flu.

GINGER ALE: How come ginger ale tastes at least 38% better when you feel like rubbish?  It's science...or is it witchcraft?

SALTINES: I like to lick the salt off before I eat them, because I have issues. The important thing about saltines is that they are basically flavorless and at least provide you with something that can roll around in your stomach for a while without upsetting it. 

WATER: Where as ginger ale tastes better when sick, water always tastes awful to me. 

ICE CUBES/POPSICLES: I prefer ice cubes over popsicles because I'm a weirdo (already established) and also because you can also put a few cubes on your head or chest if you are burning up from your 214-degree fever. I appreciate a food that multi-tasks. 

CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP:  Man, is there anything better than that first spoonful of salty brothy goodness?  That first bowl of soup also signifies a major step towards recovery!  I'm Italian so when I get sick my go to is actually tortellini soup!  Its a little more hearty than the average noodle soup, plus you don't have to fish around to find a piece of chicken.  

So there you have it, my go-to's when I go down with the flu.  Did I miss anything? Let me know! 

Eat these if...you feel like someone is turning your internal thermostat all the way up then all the way down every 15 minutes 

Don't eat these if...you can safely eat literally anything else.
