I like to eat. A lot. Food is bae. Therefore, I figured I would post reviews of the places I go to give you a little insight and maybe some ideas on where you might want to nom with your friends or special someones. Plus, it gives me an excuse to pig out on Seattle's best eats and not feel bad about it, because work!

Before we start, though, I want to make one thing perfectly clear, I am NOT a professional food nerd, nor do I want to be. I don't know the intricacies of French cooking. Heck, I don't even know how to spell "intricacies." It also means that if you ask me what the best burger is, I'll probably say Lil Woody's before I suggest any kind of "gourmet" burger, unless that gourmet burger has an egg on it. Then gourmet burger wins (any burger with an egg on it wins really.) Also, my idea of a fancy pizza is anything with more than two toppings. Basically what I'm getting at is consider these restaurant reviews for the common man/woman.

Got it? Good, let's roll!

After months of anticipation, I finally ate at Halal Guys, the wildly popular New York halal spot opened right here in Pioneer Square. As a gyro fiend, I made sure to get down to check it out as soon as I could. Was it worth the wait? Would the wait in line outweigh the quality of the food?  Would I eat my weight in lamb? LET'S FIND OUT...

EATS

Combo Platter- EXTRA white sauce-  Listen, I have a very serious addiction to gyros, so my plan was to head down and get a lamb gyro with all the fixins. BUT I decided to tweet the restaurant for recommendations before I went, to make sure I got the signature dish.  This was a good idea.  They suggested a combo platter (lamb and chicken) with hot sauce and extra white sauce.

First, they lay down a bed of rice, followed by lettuce. Then they drop about a pound of chicken and lamb on top. THEN they smother the whole thing in as much white sauce as you want. Friends, let me be perfectly clear about this, you cannot possibly ask for too much white sauce. It's incredible.  People have spent their lives trying to reverse engineer it. You will think about the stuff long after the meal is over.  It is unequivocally the star of the meal.  You will want to put it on everything ever. It becomes especially useful if you order hot sauce with your platter, as I'm pretty sure there are bits of real lava in it.  Serious heat.

Seattle is expanding and changing with the times, which means outside culinary influences are beginning to make their appearance in our fair city, for better or for worse. Is Halal Guys going to put every other gyro spot out of business? No. Is it better than whatever your favorite spot is? No. To be honest, the rest of the meal was a little underwhelming, but the sauce will most defintely keep you going back. Is it worth a trip to Pioneer Square for a meal before an M's game or concert? Absolutely.

Go here if... you are a fan of halal/gyros and know that a good sauce can change lives

Don't go here if... you are looking for the best gyro in the city
