Let's Taco-bout it! My Favorite Taco Truck Challenge Moments

This past weekend, thousands of End listeners (and runners) took over Volunteer Park for an afternoon of sun, suds, and awesome food.  The sixth-annual Taco Truck Challenge was lit, and these were my favorite parts....

HERE COMES THE SUN

Taco Truck Challenge is quickly becoming the official start of summer, which is probably bad because global warming, but is also totally awesome because there are few things better than an ice cold beer in your hand, killer tunes in your ears, and warm sun on your face.

I SCREAM YOU SCREAM...

You know you've arrived when people start wearing shirts with your face airbrushed on them, or someone names a food after you.  Welp, guess we are here!  Thanks to our friends at Full Tilt, we now have our very own ice cream, The Chocolate to END All Chocolates (see what we did there?)  It's in all Full Tilt stores now, so go get some already, gosh!

RANCHO BRAVO, AS GOOD AT 1 PM AS IT IS AT 1 AM!

Anyone who lives on Capitol Hill knows that one of the best late night spots for food is Rancho Bravo, so it was super cool to see them win the 'Best Of' award at this year's challenge.  I found it especially touching that they brought up to accept the award.  Major props to Fidelia, for providing the recipes for EVERY item on the menu.  Of course, the real question is are you Team Rancho burrito or Team Bravo burrito?

THEY PLAY SO FINE WOULDN'T YOU AGREE?

A party (even one with over 30 food trucks) is really only as good as the bands that play it, and I'm happy to say that every band totally represented. It was super cool to see how much Colorworks has progressed from last year to now.  I became an instant fan of Naked Giants the first time I heard them at The Sunset when they opened for Car Seat Headrest, and hopefully you did too after seeing them at TTC. And of course, New Beat Fund put the exclamation point on the day with a killer set, getting booties shaking like crazy to No Type!

THOSE TACOS THO...FROM ASADA TO AHI.

You guys, I ate a lot of tacos on Saturday. A LOT!  I smashed some asada tacos from TacoGol before I even made it inside the festival, and followed that up with more asada from Taqueria la Fondita.  After that I stopped at People of the Chubbs, where I ordered one ahi taco and one chicken taco...but was given one PLATE of each.  Oops!

After that taco OD I had to chill for awhile, but soon I was back on the horse and hit up Rancho Bravo, Full Tilt for some End ice cream, and then finished my day with a trip to the Skillet truck for a mahi mahi taco that was super legit, but the star of their dish was the side of corn.  It was probably the second best thing I tasted Saturday, first going to that ahi taco from Chubbs. I wish I had three of them right now <begins drooling uncontrollably>.

Taco Truck Challenge is one of my favorite events of the year, and not just because I get to stuff my face with tacos all day in the name of "work," but because its also a great day to hang out with each and every one of you, drink some bevs, and get some sun on these pasty legs of mine!  Thank you all for coming out this year, can't wait until we are back at Volunteer Park for next year!
