Where's the best place to camp in Seattle?

Jun 03rd | categories: Local, whatever

I'm definitely a camping newbie. I just recently bought my first backpack, sleeping bag, and tent. Still need to get fitted for hiking boots and buy a good rain jacket, though. Now that I have all this gear, where should I go? I went camping on Whidbey Island once and that was beautiful. Recently camped for a night on a lake in Belfair, too. If you have a favorite camping spot that's nearby and gorgeous, let me know! Or if you need ideas like I do, click here and check out Seattle Met's "Where to Camp" guide for 2014!

Kanaskat-Palmer State Park is a great first of the season spot! http://www.parks.wa.gov/427/Kanaskat-Palmer-State-Park

Not technically in Seattle, but Potholes state park was a great place to camp a couple of weeks ago. http://www.parks.wa.gov/417/Potholes-State-Park

Some of my favorite places to camp are Ft. Worden and Ft. Flagler on the peninsula. These spots are super easy to camp at and have quite the sights. Another would be near the Ape Caves. Again, super fun and easy camping (with toilets) next to one of the coolest underground attractions of Washington. If you are feeling up to a challenge, a true adventurer would nary pass-up an opportunity to hike the Enchantments. This gem is in the Cascades of Leavenworth, a beautiful and expansive backpacking route with the most breathtaking sights and nanny goats. Good Luck!
