VIDEO: Mitt Romney Makes An Oopsie

Sep 17th | categories: politics

After titling this blog, I realized there is the likely possiblity of someone stumbling upon it and thinking this is in fact a video of romney having an accident in his shorts but sad day, it isn't. I'm not real political so before you go getting your panties all in a bunch, I'm posting this because it's BIG NEWS, and a big deal to a lot of people, I didn't vote republican nor democrat in my last election and I honestly can't tell you what I'll do this time. But what I can tell you is this little snippet is pretty damning. Feel free to comment on our Facebook and we can attempt to chat about politics in a manner that hopefully embodies more restraint than my 12th grade social issues class.

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax." - Mitt Romney

That little "......." bridge you put in there left out a very important detail. He doesnt straight say these are people who don't pay income tax, he says 47% of Americans pay no income tax, and thats a fact. It doesn't sway my vote at all, I agree. People who wholly rely on the government to take care of every detail in their lives are not people I would defend because thats not the way that Americans live. We build, we work hard, we depend on ourselves not others for our way of life. I agree. The people that think they government should take care of them are gonna vote for obama no matter what because thats what he is going to do.

the 47% he's talking about are the people who end up not owing anything in taxes at the end of the year, people who's return equals or is more then the amount they paid in taxes. This group NORMALLY consists of lower income families, people who qualify for EIC ect as a college student with a child with hearing disabilities my family gets included in this 47%. So i do get offended and upset when this clown makes a stereotypical statement that all of the people in this group depend on the government, and expect the government to take care of us. We don't receive benefits of any sort, we don't get foodstamps, we don't receive unemployment, welfare, state healthcare, we work for everything we have. As do a lot of other people in the same situation we are in. Yes there are people who need help from the government, most people have been in that situation at some point in their life, i was once and was greatful that it was there to make sure we had food on our table while we both worked full time minimum wage jobs. I don't agree with people who abuse the system, or stay on it because they are just lazy, but i'm glad it is there for those who need it, and for the kids of these families. What we have right now is in no way perfect, but Romney is a 1% tool who has no idea what anyone making "living" wages goes through to live. SO i hope that the 47% he slammed does vote against him.
