The Kings/Sonics debate continues...

Mar 27th | categories: Local, News, Seattle Sports

The mayor of Sacramento is starting to put his money where his mouth is. He doesn't want Seattle to take the Kings, so he's been having a few of his rich friends donate money to the cause. C'mon - we'd be doing the same thing. Yesterday he snagged another investor, just ya know... a billionaire! And now the Sacramento City Council has approved their new downtown arena plans. Yeah... it's not looking so great for us. Who else's team can we steal? ;) (source)

UPDATE: Chris Hansen just agreed to buy an additional 7% share of the Sacramento Kings in order to bring them to Seattle. He already owns 65%. HOW ARE WE NOT GETTING THE KINGS THEN!? Welllll the NBA has to approve all of these purchases and investments and what not and they'll ultimately make the final decision on where the Kings go, come April 19th. Boo and hoo. (other source)

No, I think you got this wrong, Pepper! Everyone expected Sacramento to fund part of the stadium, as announced. And we also expected more investors for trying to keep the team. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY JUST GET TO. What you're missing is that the team has already been sold with a contract and all. It will take a LOT more than what was announced to change that plan, including a legal battle. So I totally disagree that it's not looking good for Seattle. I think you got this one wrong, Pepp!

Joel, wanna know a secret? I know literally nothing about basketball. Just writing about what I read, but look at the update! I believe you! :)
