Someone is REALLY not happy with "Same Love"...

Jun 11th | categories: Local, Music

Macklemore, man. You either love him or you hate him. He's had so much positive press because of "Same Love", and for good reason. I mean, I don't hear any other rappers/musicians/artists on the radio portraying a positive light on being gay as opposed to the vulgar hate we usually get. So why would anyone be upset about the song? Well, some people just think he's full of shit. Including this woman who wrote an entire article about the song. It's an interesting read to say the least. Opinions. Everybody's got em.

Is out of control. I can't help but feel repulsed by people who breed negativity. Just enjoy the ride! He's promoting love and she's promoting scrutiny. A very small part of me can understand why she would feel the way she does, but that's the part of me that I never expose because it's ugly and unproductive.

This woman seems to me like someone who is "qu**r" because she can't stand a label, and thus decides to label others. The most striking thing about that entire article was that it felt like the person who wrote it only had a problem with the song because it was two white men who were involved and only wanted to hear a woman's voice. Sounds like someone has a problem with men and straight men in particular. Keep the hate to yourself, a lot of white g@y men identified with this song very well.

I heard about this article being written on the radio, so I figured I'd take a gander and see what this woman was going on about and frankly it's nothing. She comes off as someone who can't be pleased either way; whether someone wrote a song supporting same sex love/marriage or someone didn't, she'd still be displeased and that says more about her than it does about "Same Love" and Macklemore. What happened to "live and let live"? Isn't that a core sentiment when it comes to same sex relationships? Acceptance, tolerance, understanding and love. Macklemore is preaching it, why can't she?

No one else

It comes off as a letter about how no one else could possibly have gone through anything like she did so she needs to distance herself. But if your life is one in a million and a population of over 7 billion chances are that 7 thousand people have had most of the same experiences. How could a white rapper sing about stereotypes and all of us coming from the same god if he hasn't had to suffer, because white males never do? Ryan Lewis and Macklemore are great. I love those guys. And the message was that we all deserve equal rights. If she has a problem with that then she is a tyrant that want to push herself up while pushing others down. (...maybe I shouldn't have typed this after a few drinks, but that's what vacations are for)

I just dont see why people hate others who simply cannot agree that its ok. In their moral opinion... its their right. It does not mean they are hating on gays, they just cannot say they agree with it.
