Silversun Pickups Ban Romney Campaign From Using "Panic Switch"

Aug 16th | categories: Music, Music News

Our good friends the Silversun Pickups have had to get tough with a guy that's got a real shot to be the leader of the free world - Mitt Romney.

The band has issued a cease-and-desist order against the Republican after he used their song 'Panic Switch' at a number of campaign stops earlier this year.

Frontman Brian Aubert said:

"We don't like people going behind our backs, using our music without asking, and we don't like the Romney campaign,""We're nice, approachable people. We won't bite. Unless you're Mitt Romney!"

He added that the band was:

"very close to just letting this go because the irony was too good."However, "while he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign, we doubt that 'Panic Switch' really sends the message he intends,"

Incidents like this aren't uncommon in Presidential elections. The Foo Fighters issued a similar C&D to the McCain campaign in 2008 after they used the track "My Hero" without permission
