Say it ain't so, Aberdeen.

Jun 03rd | categories: Local, News

Well this is sad. The city of Aberdeen famously changed their welcome sign to display the words "Come As You Are" as a memorial to Kurt Cobain, who grew up there. Though, it took them 10 years to do so. The sign has only been up since 2004 and they're already talking about taking it down. Why? Some residents think it sends a bad message, since they're technically celebrating an admitted drug user that committed suicide... Find out more here. Do you think the sign should stay?

Before Aberdeen's citizens became the focus of this please see what the citizens really think. I have attached the local newspaper's Facebook page. Scroll down to the article in question and read the comments. Nearly all support the sign asis.

Aberdeen is only famous for one thing. If they'd like to remove they only reason they've ever been in the news they will definitely lose even more money than the failing town is losing now. It's amazing that people look for excuses for failure. It's not your slogan!!! You've been blessed enough to have some sort of claim to fame. Let's keep it that way and not be known for being an indecisive fence riding fair weather fan.

F**k you all! Honestly! Probably a bunch of bible humpers want to take that sign down. That's disrespect if they take that down. They wouldn't be on the map without Kurt. He was a genius who cares if he did drugs. That's the meaning of come as you are. Who cares who you are everyone should be welcome and that's the meaning of the f**king sign so get the heck over it and stop being little preppy whores!!

Are you f'g kidding me? I always knew what it meant and loved it. Thought maybe Aberdeen truly embraced its Son that brought them their 15 minutes of fame. And even if you don't get the reference, is it not still so very welcoming?
