If you're a fan of 90's music, it's hard to ignore the wonderfull force that was shoegaze. Wall of sound audio bathing that came to a pinnacle (arguably) with a band synonymous with the genre, My Bloody Valentine, who's reunion a few years back pierced ear drums and brought a ringing in our ears we didnt know we could have (they're known for their red-zone decible level at live shows). Band leader Kevin Shields has been teasing us with the prospect of a follow up to their masterpiece, Loveless since, however it was anyones guess if it would ever materialize. Good news today as Shields has announced the record is not only coming out, but will do so before the end of the year. Here's what he's had to say in the last few months about the impending release which is due to be followed by an EP in the coming year. For those still lost, they wrote that song you really like from Lost In Translation.
I'm just finishing a record that I had started in the 90s. It was going to be, like, the next record. But it was already after the band had half split up, and me and Bilinda [Butcher] were left. Then we got back together. I've always said that we were going to make a record again. You never know, we might finish it really quickly, and it might be up in a few months! I tend to work really quickly, suddenly, and I might be willing to do that right now. We'll see!
"People who like us will immediately connect with something," he said. "Based on the very, very few people who've heard stuff-- some engineers, the band, and that's about it-- some people think it's stranger thanLoveless. I don't."
