Locals Only Artist of the Month: Hand of the Hills
Seattle has long been a frontier town that attracts musicians who want to invent and reinvent – from Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain to the next unnamed musical star. While the sound may change from decade to decade, the Northwest’s music scene is as vibrant as ever. And here at The End we feel it’s important to help put our homegrown talent in the forefront by giving you a taste of our cities musical richness.
In late 2011, Seattle-based musicians Erin Tate (Minus the Bear) and David Totten (The Quiet Ones, Scriptures) started a collaboration that would eventually become Hand of the Hills. Summoning shared influences of psychedelia and progressive rock, the two began writing songs with haunting vocal melodies and screaming riffs. They soon enlisted guitar guru Matt Benham (Black Swedes) to add his handiwork. Hand of the Hills is awaiting the release of their debut record, which features bassist Eli Thomson (Everest).
