Locals Only Artist of the Month: Minus The Bear
Seattle has long been a frontier town that attracts musicians who want to invent and reinvent – from Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain to the next unnamed musical star. While the sound may change from decade to decade, the Northwest’s music scene is as vibrant as ever. And here at The End we feel it’s important to help put our homegrown talent in the forefront by giving you a taste of our cities musical richness.
Rising from the ashes of Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving, Minus the Bear has been one of Seattle's best bands since 2001. The guys just released their latest record which (As with most band bio's) - got a very descriptive write up by it's record label:
"Minus the Bear’s fifth studio full-length album, Infinity Overhead, which is out now on Dangerbird Records, is not only a return to form in direction, instrumentation and creation but also the band’s most aggressive and confident. The veteran Seattle-based fivesome reunited with former member and longtime producer Matt Bayles (Mastodon, Isis, Cursive) to create a guitar-laden 10-track record that is heavy both on technicality and pop songcraft and showcases the band doing what they do best – interesting, guitar-based, big sounding rock".
They recently celebrated the release of the album with a tiny surprise show at the Comet Tavern in Seattle and will return for a proper show on Saturday, November 17th at the Showbox Market.
