When the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced the departure of guitarist John Frusciante, it certainly didn't seem like the end of the world. Though they may have sold a bazillion copies of their previous albums, it sorta felt like RHCP are a well polished rock band. They lost some of their early weirdness and just made mass appeal albums. These albums also made them "let's just burn the house down" piles of money!
I'm With You is the first offering from the group since losing a quarter of their legendary song writing talent. Due to a bunch of reasons, the album didn't blow everyone away. It's something that just happens to any band making music for the zeitgeist. No worries.
Then, according to plan, Frusciante recorded an album to be released this fall and an EP that's out in couple weeks. Letur-lefr isn't just a strange name that I didn't bother googling, it's SUPER WEIRD in that MGMT Congratulationsway. The whole thing got posted to YouTube and if you're ready to find some of the strangeness that made RHCP cool, then you've come to the right place:
Are you into it? Will you get excited for the album?
