End Music Discovery: Cat Power - "Cherokee"

If the latest Fiona Apple record isn't enough gonzo girl energy to keep you locked in your head on a rainy day, this new Cat Power record is poised to bookend your inner lady tension in the best way. Cherokee is the album opener for Sun, Chan's first record of all original material in 6 years and it lays waste to the already fantastic sounding "Ruin", starting off slow before breaking into a driving shoe-gaze dance rhythm, complimented by a multi-layered processed vocal, more small risks that pay off in big ways, "marry me, marry me to the sky" she cries, in an echo of what's surely bound to be the perfect post-summer anthem.
