Billie Joe Armstrong Sober for a Year Before Vegas Meltdown

It's certainly not breaking news that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had been drinking prior to his on-stage rant at the iheartradio festival in Vegas last weekend. However, it looks like we have a little more back-story about what went down.

Tre Cool's ex-wife Claudia Suarez Wright said that after a year of being sober - Armstrong gave into the temptations of Vegas and started drinking again that day.

"When he was in Vegas he was drinking a lot. The night of the show he had been drinking. In Las Vegas there's a lot of temptation to drink and it's tough to be around when you're fighting against it. They have a new album coming out and it's a demanding lifestyle. It's very difficult."

Armstrong checked himself into rehab on Sunday
