Beer For Breakfast! Ballast Point Brewing
Every Friday morning at 830, i'm taking one for the team: i'm willing to drink beer for breakfast to help prepare your weekend! Today we had Mike and Jared from Ballast Point Brewing in town from WAAAAY down the coast in San Diego. They're here for Seattle Beer Week and brought some great brews. Additionally, they wanted to demonstrate that beers can be paired nicely even at breakfast time! Mike hauled in a beautiful box of donuts for the occasion.
Ballast Point: Sculpin India Pale Ale
It's unfair for me to review this because it's my current favorite IPA. I like the hops and this one delivers WITHOUT a ton of bitterness. It's a nice beer to share with someone new to IPA's because it features a brilliant citrus flavor when you get that first whiff. It's easy to drink but still pretty hefty with a 7.0% abv. Served in bottle or can, this beer is a go-to after a long day! Since this beer is lemon-y, why not pair it with a sugar coated, lemon filled donut? Great combo!

Limited Release India-style Export Stout
I've in recent months tried a few spicy beers that didn't sit well with me. One a habanero IPA, another jalapeno IPA. Gross. The brains behind this India-style stout understand how to get spice and beer done together. It features a non-spicy curry (safe for even the most timid of tongues), but is sooooo perfectly balanced out by a touch of coconut! This is a limited supply release and features the coolest, mean-looking octopus on the label! We paired this sucker with a cake donut with chocolate and coconut toping!

Enjoy your beers this weekend, but make sure to get home safely!
